Industrial Painting - Introduction to the Paint Booth
There are many types of paint booths. Except for a few small-scale painting units that still use intermittent spraying outdoors, the larger-scale paintings all use the paint booths operated continuously by industrial paint booth manufacturers. In addition, the paint booth is increasingly combined with pre-treatment equipment, coating drying equipment, and conveying machinery to form a highly automated painting line.
Different types of paint booths according to different ways
All paint booths are equipped with an air supply and exhaust system. According to the air supply and airflow direction, the paint booth can be divided into four types: horizontal air extraction, longitudinal air extraction, bottom air extraction, and upper air supply and bottom air extraction.
According to the treatment methods of paint mist, the types of paint booth can be divided into dry type and wet type.
Difference between dry type and wet type
The dry spray booth collects and processes the paint mist directly with filter material or device, which has the advantages of low air pressure, small air volume, low operation cost and no secondary pollution. However, the efficiency of paint mist capture is low, and the equipment itself is seriously polluted, which is prone to fire. The wet spray booth uses water, oil, oil-water dispersion or emulsion as absorbents to collect paint mist, and then treats the paint-containing waste liquid, so that the waste paint is formed into paint residue and left in the water or oil phase for separation. The absorbent of waste paint is reused to collect paint mist. Industrial paint booth manufacturers said: Although the ability of water to capture paint mist is much lower than that of oil absorbents, water is most commonly used as an absorbent to form circulating water in spray booth for consideration of cost and availability. With the advancement of paint-water separation methods, the use of circulating water to treat paint mist can achieve high capture efficiency.
The wet spray booth is characterized by high paint mist collection efficiency, safety, and high cleanliness. However, it has high operating costs and it is prone to secondary pollution. Paint-containing waste liquid (water) needs to be specially treated. The wet (water) spray booth is more manufactured by industrial paint booth manufacturers at present, and it is also the final use place of paint mist coagulant.
